DUBUQUE — Sister Marian McGonegle, BVM (William James), 95, died Sept. 22 at Marian Hall, Dubuque, Iowa. Visitation will be Sept. 25 from 9-11 a.m. in the Marian Hall chapel with a prayer service at 11 a.m. The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. with burial in the Mount Carmel cemetery. Sister Marian was principal and teacher at North Catholic Grade School in Clinton for 13 years, and in retirement did parish ministry at St. Mary Parish for 15 years. She was also an educator in Dubuque and Boone, Iowa; South Dakota, Wyoming, Arizona, and Illinois. Sister Marian was born March 9, 1913, in Clinton to William and Mary Dougherty McGonegle. She graduated from St. Mary High School and attended Mount St. Clare College before entering the BVM congregation on Sept. 8, 1932. She professed first vows on March 19, 1935, and final vows on Aug. 15, 1940. Her parents and brother, William McGonegle, preceded her in death. She is survived by a sister, Lucille McGonegle, Clinton; and the Sisters of Charity, BVM, with whom she shared life for 76 years. Memorials may be given to the Sisters of Charity BVM Retirement Fund. Death date: Sept. 22, 2008
