HUDSON, Wis. — William M. “Bill” Weston of Hudson, WI and formerly of Clinton died Sunday, September 14. He was born August 11, 1922 in Boone, IA the son of George and Anna Weston.He graduated from Clinton High School and later attended Iowa State University before enlisting in the U.S. Navy. He was commissioned as a pilot in the Navy in 1942 and later joined the Marine Corps as a fighter pilot and served in the Pacific Theater during WWII. After the war, he entered the Marine Corps Reserve and retired as a Major. He was past Commander of AMVETS Post 28 in Clinton.He was employed at EI Dupont as a draftsman. He was involved in many projects including the construction of the Clysar plant until he retired in 1986.Before moving to Monument, CO in 1986, Bill lived in Clinton most of his life with his beloved wife, Bette. He was very active in The Boy Scouts of America where he was a fifty-year member and a Wood Badge Instructor. He was Scout Master of Troop 11 at St. Mary’s and Troop 1 at Sacred Heart. He was the recipient of the Silver Beaver Award, Vigil Member of Order of the Arrow, and the St. George Award. He attended several National Boy Scout Jamborees along with his son and grandson. He was also a Scout Master at Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico. He was a Fourth Degree in the Knights of Columbus. He was very active in St. Edwards Council #707 before moving to Colorado. He was a very faithful Catholic and always active in his Parishes, whether in Clinton or in Monument, CO.Those to honor his memory include his six children: Kathy and Ron Smith of Hudson, WI; Bill Stoltz of Camanche; Liz and Kirby Nash of Clinton; Mike and Lyndell Weston of Spirit Lake, IA; Mark Weston of Hilton Head, SC; and Mick and Kelly Weston of Clinton. He had twelve beloved grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Bill and his wife, Bette, spent many happy moments watching them grow and achieve in many endeavors. In 1999 when Bill went to Canada with his son-in-law and grandson, he had the opportunity to fly a plane after many years. This experience was the highlight of the trip.He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, November 8 at Sacred Heart Church. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.Memorials may be made to Prince of Peace Church or Boy Scouts of America.Death date: Sept. 14, 2008
