THOMSON, Ill. — Lillian C. Bailey, age 87, of Thomson, IL, died Thursday, September 4, 2008, at Eagle Point Nursing Home in Clinton. There will be no visitation. Private family services will be held at the Pape Funeral Home. Lillian was born in Fulton on September 12, 1920, the daughter of Jessie W. and Marie C. Wegner Bailey. She graduated from Fulton High School and received her degree in Physical Education from Illinois State University in Normal. Lillian served as a U.S. Navy WAVE for three years during W.W. II. Following the war she did her post graduated studies in Physical Therapy at the University of Southern California and El Camino College in Los Angeles. Lillian worked as a Physical Therapist at the Veterans Administration Hospital in West Los Angeles for four years. She later owned and operated the Community Physical Therapy Office in Torrance, CA, for 29 years. In 1980 she left the tides and white caps of the Pacific Ocean to return to the ripples and mud of the Mississippi River near Thomson. Lillian is survived by her sister, Wilma Masse of Clinton; several nieces and a nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com.
