CLINTON — John C. Mangels, 72, of Clinton, passed away Thursday, August 28, 2008, at Crestridge Nursing Home in Maquoketa. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday September 2, 2008, at Lemke Funeral Homes, South Chapel, 2610 Manufacturing Drive, with Pastor Dennis Glew officiating. Burial will follow at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. John Clayton was born in Clinton on August 16, 1936, to George and Luella (Ripley) Mangels. He married Doris Van Order on June 28, 1997, in Clinton. John owned and operated his own private taxi service. He loved the outdoors and loved to watch football and the Lawrence Welk Show. John is survived by his wife, Doris of Clinton; daughter, Karen Coyne of Davenport; son, John Mangels Jr. of Davenport; stepdaughters, Penny (David) Anderson of Clinton and Marguerite (Michael) Dudock of Clinton; stepsons, David (Diane) Burmeister of Davenport and Fred Horton of Clinton; two sisters and two brothers and several grandchildren.
