FULTON, Ill. — Mary Ellen Graf, 85, passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2008, at Harbor Crest Home in Fulton, IL. Visitation will be held Friday, August 29, 2008, from 4 - 7 p.m. at Lemke Funeral Homes, South Chapel, 2610 Manufacturing Dr. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held Saturday, August 30, 2008, at Prince of Peace Parish, St. Mary’s Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Tony Herold officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Greg Weets, Brent Fisher, Paul Graf, Matt Graf, Ron Celsi and Craig Williams. Mary Ellen (Schiltz) Graf was born on August 13, 1923, in Michell, South Dakota. She was the daughter of Raymond and Irma (Washburn) Schiltz. Mary was educated in the Catholic School system in South Dakota, graduating from Notre Dame High School in Mitchell. She came to Clinton to visit her sister in the fall of 1941 where she met and married her husband of 54 years, Michael Graf, on February 14, 1942.Mary Ellen was a telephone operator during WWII, which made it easier for her to speak to her Marine husband who served overseas during the war. She was also employed at the Clinton Garment Factory, Dairy Pak in Clinton and Wells Television serving both Clinton Hospitals.Mary Ellen is survived by her children, Barbara Suehl-Janis (Leonard) of Clinton, Elizabeth Weets of Turwilla, WA, Jane Brown of Clinton, Christine (Craig) Williams of Kent, WA, Michael (Janet) Graf of Clinton and Greg (Barb) Graf of Clinton; 13 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; and a special roommate, Gladys Balk, at Harbor Crest.Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her husband in 1994, an infant child and her parents. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for The Harbor Crest Home in Fulton, IL, that gave her such wonderful care since June of 2000.Condolences can be made online at www.lemkefh.com.Death date: Aug. 27, 2008
