Weispfenning, Roland "Rollie" View/Sign Guest Book

CLINTON — Roland “Rollie” Weispfenning, age 75, of Clinton joined his Heavenly Father on Monday, August 25, 2008, at the Eagle Point Nursing Home in Clinton after an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, August 28th at the Pape Funeral Home in Clinton. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Honorary casket bearers will be Doug Winegar, Ron Izer, Ted Tholen Jr., Warren Dyskstra, Paul Baker, R.R. Kelly and the AMVETS Color Guard. Rollie was born in rural Fredonia, North Dakota, on June 2, 1933, the son of Otto and Matilda Rath Weispfenning. The family later moved to Jamestown, ND. In 1952 Rollie moved to Clinton. He married Lucille Munsch on January 25, 1953. He later married Jean Iburg. In the early years, Rollie worked for Rich Toy Company, Clinton Corn and Clinton Beverage. He then learned his trade in floor covering and owned and operated Weispfenning Floor Covering Services for 42 years, retiring in 1995. He later worked part time for IWI Motor Parts and Manning’s Whistle Stop until recently. Rollie was active in the community, serving on the church council, as a trustee and ushering at Zion Lutheran Church for many years. He has been a member of Chancy Lutheran Church for several years. Rollie is a long standing member of Eagle’s Aerie 705 and the AMVETS. He has been a state and local officer of the Sons of AMVETS for many years. He also has been a member of the AMVETS Color Guard, of which he was very proud. Rollie is survived by his wife, Jeanne; a son, Ronald of Clinton; a daughter, Judy (Dennis) Andersen of Clinton; a stepson, Jeff (Ilene) Iburg of Fulton; four grandchildren, Stephanie Andersen of Iowa City, Rebakch Holmbo of Fulton and Matthew and Amanda Iburg of Fulton; four brothers, Clarence of West Fargo, ND, Howard (Carol) of Jamestown, ND, Rodger of Colorado Springs, CO, and Norman (Jill) of Clinton; six sisters, Lori Harrington of Federal Way, WA, Anne Olson of Plant City, FL, Lillian Sundheim and Viola Seitz both of Jamestown, ND, Darlene (Ron) Tompt of Rocklin, CA, and Hildi (Lee) Johnson of Townsend, MT; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding Rollie in death are his parents, a brother, Milton, and a sister, Elsie, in infancy. Memorials may be made to Camp Courageous or family wishes.Death date: Aug. 25, 2008
