CLINTON — James Edward Gee, 80, died Monday, August 25, 2008, at his home in Clinton, IA. He was a lifelong resident of Clinton. He was born on February 3, 1928, to Loyal Gee and Grace Weaver Gee at Jane Lamb Hospital, Clinton, IA. He married Elaine Griebel on December 31, 1946, until her death on February 1, 1989. He later married Roberta Donahue in 1990 in Clinton. James served in the U.S. Navy, during World War II, aboard the U.S.S. Pennsylvania. He was a member of the AMVETS Color Guard. Also, he was a lifelong member of the Moose Lodge, Eagles and the VFW. He was employed as an auto mechanic for the Clinton Community Schools retiring in 1989. After his retirement, he enjoyed traveling in his motor home and spending winter months in Arizona. James is survived by his four daughters, Linda (Thomas) Judd of Clinton, Karen Geronzin of Folletts, Michelle (Richard) Allison of Victorville, CA, and Jamie (William) Combs of Chandler, AZ; grandchildren, Danielle Judd, Clinton, Shannon Geronzin, Clinton, William Geronzin, Warner-Robins, GA, James Geronzin, DeWitt, Chad Allison, Victorville, CA, Seann Allison, Victorville, CA, Cina Brady, Maricopa, AZ, Chrisy Broadrick, Goodyear, AZ, Jason Combs, Chandler, AZ; great-grandchildren, Jacob Judd, Clinton, Christian and Alexander Geronzin of Warner-Robins, GA, Kayla Kasten of Maricopa, AZ, Patricia Broadrick, Chandler, AZ, and Brianna Broadrick, Goodyear, AZ. He is also survived by several great-great-grandchildren. He was loved by many and truly never met a stranger. James was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Elaine; brother, Charles Gee; and sister, Marilyn Lorenzen. Funeral services will held be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 29, 2008, at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 28, 2008, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Clinton Chapel. His final resting place will be at Clinton Lawn Cemetery where full military rites will be conducted by the Clinton AMVETS. Pallbearers will be Dan Gee, Mike Lorenzen, William Combs, Pat, Kevin, and Vince Donahue. Honorary pallbearers will be Jacob Judd and Tom Judd. A lunch to celebrate Jim’s life will follow at the AMVETS. Memorials may be made to Mercy Hospice. Online condolences may be left by visiting www.snellzornig.com. Death date: Aug. 25, 2008
