CLINTON — Mary Agnes Brown, 89, of Clinton, passed away Monday, August 25, 2008, at the Alverno Health care Facility, Clinton. Visitation will be Thursday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a vigil service at 7:45 p.m. at Lemke Funeral Homes, South Chapel, 2610 Manufacturing Drive. Funeral services will be Friday, August 29, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at Prince of Peace, St Mary’s Catholic Church, with The Rev. Father Thomas Hennen officiating. Pallbearers will be David and Darren Jacobsen, Richard and Joseph Pederson, Robert Tegeler and Eugene Hoagland. Honorary pallbearers will be Steven Brown, Laura Pederson, and Deanna Tegeler. Mrs. Brown was born November 14, 1918, in Chelsea, Iowa, to John and Agnes (Mussel) Chekal. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1936. She married Edward Aaron Brown July 20, 1940, at St Mary’s Catholic Church. During World War II, she worked for Bennett Box Company, also for Swift and Company and was a talented homemaker. She was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish, Altar and Rosary Society and former member of St. Mary’s PTA. Survivors include two daughters, Deborah (David) Jacobsen of Clinton, Cynthia (Richard) Pederson, of Camanche; one son, Edward (Sherry) Brown of Clinton; 5 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, 3 stepgrandchildren and 1 brother, Allen (Betty) Chekal of Clinton. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 1 grandson and 1 great-grandson. Death date: Aug. 25, 2008
