Huling, Allen H. "Big Al" View/Sign Guest Book

CAMANCHE — Allen H. Huling “Big Al” of Camanche passed away Monday, August 18, 2008, at his home surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 21st at the Pape Funeral Home in Clinton. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Casket bearers are William, Kenneth, John, Thomas and Richard Huling and David Kruecher. Honorary casket bearers are Roger Overby, Jim Robbins, Jack Sturtz, Mike Huling, James Haury and Terry Hansen. Allen was born in Clinton on November 4, 1951, the son of William S. and Juanita A. Lund Huling. He graduated from Clinton High School in 1970. Al married Dianna L. Kane on August 7, 1971, in Clinton. He served with the Iowa Army National Guard from 1970 until 1976. Al was a Carmen/welder with the Chicago Northwestern Railroad from 1972 until 1995. During this time he also owned and operated Bonnies Scenic Tavern in Clinton from 1986 to 1988. From 1996 to 1999, Al managed The Odeon in Clinton’s Lyons District. He worked for Jack Curtis Trucking from 2001 to 2003 and since then was owner/operator of Al’s Trucking for Triple Crown Services. Al was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 363, the AMVETS Post 28, the Aerie Eagle’s Club 705 and a former member of the Clinton Bowling Association. He enjoyed riding his Harley as well as golfing, boating and coin collecting. But his grandkids were his favorites. Allen is survived by his wife, Dianna; two sons, Brian A. (Kori) Huling of Camanche and Christopher B. (Hollie) Huling of Clinton; three grandchildren, Jason, Devon and Ava Huling; seven brothers, William E. (Vicki) Huling of Kodak, TN, Kenneth E. (Linda) Huling of Clinton, Richard S. (Michele) Huling of Colorado Springs, CO, John H. (Colleen) Huling of Clinton, Thomas M. Huling of Monument, CO, David (Brenda) Kruecher of Clinton and Terry (Pat) Hansen of Maquoketa, IA; four sisters, Anna (John) Sturtz of Circleville, OH, Judith (James) Haury of Wichita, KS, Lois (James) Robbins of Sapulpa, OK, and Joan (Roger) Overby of Jefferson, IA; his father- and mother-in-law, George and Georgia Kane of Clinton; and many nieces and nephews.
