TAVARES, Fla. — Pastor John David Cornish entered his eternal home on August 10, 2008, in Tavares, FL. Celebration of life service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, August 16, 2008, at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery, Clinton, Iowa. Visitation will be Friday evening from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. He was born to William F. and Margaret C. Blunt Cornish on March 13, 1933. On August 5, 1956, he married Sandra Buckman in Clinton, Iowa. They farmed outside Low Moor, Iowa, until he was called into the Methodist ministry in 1963. They have three children: Randy (Crystal) Cornish, St. Charles, IL, Vicky (Scott) Durrett, Springfield, MO, and Will (Julie) Cornish, Georgetown, TX. He has six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He is a 1950 Clinton High School graduate, attended one year of Clinton Junior College and graduated from Iowa Wesleyan College and Drew Theological School. He served Iowa United Methodist parishes in Mt. Pleasant, Crawfordsville, Brandon, Keosauqua, Clarence, Manning, West Burlington and Donnellson, as well as Colesville, New Jersey. He retired in 1996, first to Burlington, Iowa, and then to Hawthorne at Leesburg, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Edna; brother William; and nephew, Mark Cornish. Memorials have been established to Iowa Wesleyan College, Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, in John’s name. Death date: Aug. 10, 2008
