DES MOINES — Jim Faur, 56, died August 6 in Des Moines. Private graveside services will be at a later date at Springdale Cemetery in Clinton, IA. McCalley Funeral Home in Adel is handling the arrangements. Jim was born on December 23, 1951, to Henry J. and Harriet Rasmussen Faur in Clinton, IA. He graduated from Clinton High School in 1970. Jim received his BSEE from the University of Iowa in 1978. He was employed by Honeywell in Minneapolis and Gec/Marconi Avionics in Atlanta as an electrical engineer specializing in military aircraft guidance systems. Jim’s great passion was music and playing the bass guitar. A talented guitarist, he had played with several blues bands in Des Moines, most recently the Backstage Boogie Band. He is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. Jim is survived by his sister, Janis (Gary) Colwell of Adel; nephews, Chris and Jeff Colwell; great-nieces and nephews; and several cousins. Memorials may be directed to Hope Ministries of Des Moines. Death date: Aug. 6, 2008
