CLINTON — Clara Steines, 93, of Clinton, died Sunday evening, August 3, 2008, at Eagle Point Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, August 6, 2008, at 11:30 a.m.at Church of the Visitation, 1028 Middle Rd., Camanche. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Father Richard Okumo will be officiating. Clara was born September 25, 1914, in Sandberg, Poland, daughter of Joseph and Marianna (Jernasz). She attended school in Poland. She married Vincent M. Streines December 2, 1947, in Russange, Moselle - France. He passed away January 2, 1970. They had farmed together by Calamus, then moved to Teeds Grove and owned and operated Teeds Grove Tavern. Clara and her husband later moved to Clinton. Clara also enjoyed being a homemaker, she loved to gamble and go shopping. Most of all she loved to play jokes on her family, she was a so-called practical joker, loved to make her family laugh. When she was born in Poland, her given name was Stanislawa Kreglelezyk, it was when she moved to the states that she was called Clara. Clara was deeply loved by her family and will be greatly missed by all. Memorials have been established. Clara is survived by one son, Louis and daughter-in-law (Kitty), of Camanche; one granddaughter, Sharon (Brian) Pawlik of Clinton, one grandson Van (Sandy) Kaiser of Prescott, IA, three great-grandchildren, Steven (Mia) Coon II of Queen Creek, AZ, Stacey (Larry) Walston, of Hillsdale, IL, and Sean Kaiser of Prescott, IA, and 7 great-great-grandchildren. Her parents, husband, two brothers Leo and Jacob, 1 sister Gertrude, and 1 infant grandchild preceded her in death.Death date: Aug. 3, 2008
