CLINTON — Frederick A. “Bud” Schneck Jr., age 77, of Clinton, died Monday, July 14, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center North in Clinton. A Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, July 18th, at Prince of Peace Parish, Sacred Heart Church in Clinton. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday at the Pape Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Fred was born in Rockford, IL, on September 30, 1930, the son of Frederick and Virgie Heckman Schneck. He graduated from Savanna High School in 1950. He served with the U.S. Air Force as a forward observer during the Korean War. Following the war he attended the University of Iowa for two years. He married Janice Ann Frett on December 27, 1952, in Sacred Heart Church in Clinton. Janice passed away on April 15th of this year. Bud was employed with Clinton Corn Processing for nine years. He worked as a chemical lab technician at ALCOA for 30 years retiring in 1993. He was a member of Prince of Peace Parish where he served as a Eucharistic Minister and usher. Bud was a member of American Legion Post 0148, the ALCOA 25 year club and was active in Democratic politics. Bud was a former member of the Clinton Pollution Control Commission and Boy Scout Council where he was the director of the Boy Scout swim program. He was a past officer and member of the Clinton High Band Boosters and he had volunteered with the Probation Office to assist juveniles. Bud enjoyed his family, traveling reading, hunting and the outdoors. He was a Chicago Bear and Notre Dame fan. Fred is survived by four sons, Stephen (his wife, Patricia) Schneck of Kensington, MD, Paul (his wife, Sonja) Schneck of Hot Springs, AR, Gregory Schneck of Toano, VA, and Eric (his wife, Cheryl) Schneck of Burlington, VT; his daughter, Anne Schneck of Clinton; seven grandchildren, Jennifer, Teresa, Jacob, Jeffrey, Elizabeth, Joseph and Julia; three great-grandchildren, Alexis, Trinity and Joshua; and two sisters; Virginia Yoder of Aurora, IL, and Georgia Clifton of Meriden, NH. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.Death date: July 14, 2008
