Freeport, Ill. — Gertrude C. Landon, 89, of Freeport, Ill., passed away in the Freeport Rehab and Health Care Center on Tuesday, July 15, 2008. Visitation will be held Sunday, July 20, 2008, from 4 - 8pm at Lemke Funeral Homes -South Chapel, 2610 Manufacturing Drive. Funeral Services will be held at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel on Monday, July 21, 2008, at 11:00am with Pastor Bobb Barrick officiating. Burial will follow at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Edward McMahon, Ross Landon, Paul Schutte, Christopher Myers, Patrick Schutte and Jeffrey Lindsey. Honorary Pallbearers will be Phillip Cochran, Thomas Johnson, Michael Piper, Paul Judge and Cory Dann. Gertrude was born May 23, 1919, in Clinton to Peter W. and Christine (Schafer) Petersen. She was a 1938 graduate of Goose Lake High School. Gertrude married Henry Landon on November 29, 1939 in Clinton. She was a wonderful cook working at Reynolds Restaurant, Circle G Restaurant and the DuPont Cafeteria. She was a member of 1st United Methodist Church, the Eagle's Club and the Moose.Gertrude is survived by four daughters, Wilma (Howard) Cochran of Kingman, AZ, Mary Jane Cochran of Kingman, AZ, Lois (Don) McMahon of Gainesville, GA and Eileen (Eugene) Myers of Foreston, IL; three sons, Robert Landon of Fulton, IL, Richard (Mary Jo) Landon and Henry (Grace) Landon of Albemarle, NC; a daughter-in-law, Cindy Schultz of Sabula; 13 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren; four sisters, Alverta (Alvin) Libberton of Savanna, IL, Marcella Petersen of Morrison, IL, Vera Hammerand of Bellevue, IA and Jane Moens of Geneseo, IL; two brothers, Donald (Phyllis) Petersen of Clinton, LeRoy (Linda) Petersen of Murray, KY and three sister-in-laws, Dorothy Petersen of Fulton, IL, Vera Landon of Seattle, WA and Eloise Auch of Huron, SD.Her parents, husband, one son, two brothers, one sister, six sisters-in-law, nine brothers-in-law, one son-in-law, one granddaughter, two great granddaughters and one great grandson preceded her in death. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Freeport Rehab and Health Care Center, 900 S. Kwianis Drive, Freeport, IL 61032.Death date: July 15, 2008
