FULTON, Ill. — Harold Smith, 79, of Fulton, died Saturday, July 12, 2008, at his home. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 17, 2008, Spring Valley Reformed Church, Fulton, IL. The Rev. Scott Bonestroo, pastor of Spring Valley Reformed Church, Fulton, IL, will be officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2008, Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. Interment will be in Fulton Township Cemetery, Fulton, IL. Memorials may be made to Spring Valley Reformed Church, Fulton, IL, and the Hospice of the Rock River Valley.He was born August 11, 1928, in Union Grove Township, IL, to Clarence P. and Helen (Prins) Smith. He was educated in rural Whiteside County grade schools. He married Anna Marie Huizenga on March 10, 1950, in Fulton, IL. She survives. He was employed by J.A. Bull and Sons of Union Grove, IL, for 8 years. He then owned and operated Smith Corn Shelling for 40 years. He was a member of Spring Valley Reformed Church, Fulton, IL; served as deacon. Harold was a member of the Whiteside County Farm Bureau. He enjoyed feeding and watching birds. He also enjoyed reading. Survivors include his wife, Anna Marie; one daughter, Cindy Nees of DeWitt, IA; one son, Doug (Annie) Smith, Fulton, IL; ten grandchildren, Mitchell (Carrie) Nees; Katie, Allison and Hailey Nees; Matthew, Hannah, Ben, Jake, Abbie and Rebekah Smith; one sister, Ella Mae Tenboer of Morrison, IL; two brothers, Gerald (Marge) Smith of Kenosha, WI, and Francis Smith of Mountain Home, AR. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Johanna Blink and Dorothy Housenga; four brothers, Alfred, Clifford, Gene and Clarence Smith Jr.To send online condolences go to www.bosmarenkes.com.Death date: July 12, 2008
