Lyle Connor 10/07/1998 CLINTON, Iowa -- Services for Lyle R. Connor, of Clinton, were 11 a.m. Tuesday at Evangelical Free Church, Clinton. Burial is in Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Visitation was 7-9 p.m. Monday at Nelson Funeral Home, Clinton. Mr. Connor died Sunday, Oct. 4, 1998, at his home. In earlier years, he worked at Savanna Ordinance. He then was employed as a brakeman at the Milwaukee Railroad and last was a tool and die maker at Drives Inc., Fulton, Ill., for 35 years. He retired in 1996. He was born April 26, 1932, in Chicago, to Lyle R. and Harriet F. Connor Sr. He first married Betty Barr in Savanna, Ill., and married Dorothy Schlitter on June 30, 1962, in Clinton. He was active in his membership with Evangelical Free Church, Clinton, in which he participated in the Prison Fellowship Program, Men's Choir and AWANA. He also was a member of Moose Lodge 363, National Rifle Association, Senior Class at Clinco Credit Union and Silver Advantage at Samaritan Health Systems. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, camping and boating. Survivors include his wife; stepdaughters, Julie Bott, Clinton, and Mari (Mrs. Curtis) Kruse, Clinton; sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Toni Connor, Antioch, Ill., Pat and Debbie Connor, Savanna, Ill., and Daniel and Linda Connor, Plano, Texas; a stepson and his spouse, Gordon and Lona Friedlein, Hanover, Texas; 14 foster children including Gary and Janice Kinney, Hills; 19 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Muriel Kroncke, of Kentucky, Evelyn Znavor, of Illinois, and June Rushing, of Kentucky; and brothers, Edward Connor, of Kentucky, and Patrick Connor, of Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter in infancy.
