James Bovis 09/23/1998 CLINTON, Iowa -- Services for James C. Bovis, of Clinton, will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Nelson Funeral Home, Clinton. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Mr. Bovis died Sunday, Sept. 20, 1998, at Samaritan Hospital North, Clinton. He had worked at John Tilletson Heating and Plumbing, Elgin, Iowa; Bailey Motors, Guttenburg; Vogler and Neinma Chevy, Boone; McEleney Motors, Clinton; and was a coding tower operator at DuPont, Clinton, and retired after 23 years in 1993 from the DuPont facility in Richmond, Va. He was born Sept. 7, 1930, in Swea City, to Walter and Sue (Cox) Bovis. He attended schools in Elgin, Iowa. He married Nan Deal in December 1960 in Vermillion, S.D. He was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Air Force, serving in Korea. Mr. Bovis also was a member of the Army Reserve unit in Davenport. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Nanette Hinrichsen, Clinton; a son, Harry J. Bovis, Clinton; grandchildren, Nina Barker, Angie Stewart, Sara Bovis, Marty Bovis and Becky Sue Bovis; great-grandchildren, Levi Barker and Daniel Stewart; and a brother, Walter Bovis, Greensboro, N.C. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a grandson, Chad Hayes.
