ELDRIDGE — Dr. Timothy A. Dose, 53, of Eldridge, died Tuesday, July 1, 2008, at Genesis Medical Center in Davenport.Dr. Dose was born on November 4, 1954, to Leonard W. and Helen C. Dose in Clinton, Iowa. He married Sandra Didier in Buffalo Grove, Illinois, on December 22, 1979. Dr. Dose graduated from Clinton High School in 1973 and from Clinton Community College in 1975. He received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Northern Iowa. Dr. Dose earned his specialist degree at Western Illinois University and his doctoral degree at Drake University.Dr. Dose was a life-long educator, beginning his career as a classroom teacher at Gateway Jr. High School in Clinton before moving on to Iowa Falls Middle School. His first administrative position was as the high school principal at Mater Dei High School in Clinton. From there he went to Eddyville, where he was the high school principal for one year before moving into the superintendent’s office. Following a six year stint in Eddyville, he moved on to Monticello as superintendent for eight years. Finally he accepted the position of superintendent of the North Scott Community Schools in 2001.During his career Dr. Dose was always an advocate for children. He loved the students that he served and always had their welfare and education first in his mind. Other interests in his life were hunting, fishing, spectator sports, and moonlighting as an actor in school plays. Above all else, Dr. Dose loved his family. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, and uncle. All who knew him understood that he put his family first.Survivors include his beloved wife, Sandy; daughters, Erin, of St. Louis, Mo. and Mallory, of Eldridge; and son, Ryan, of St. Louis; mother, Helen Dose of Clinton; and brothers: Len, Jr. (Pat), of Bettendorf; Steve (Barbara), of Garland, Texas; Tom (Sharon), of Reno, Nevada; and Jim (Becky), of Boone, Iowa. Dr. Dose was preceded in death by his father, Leonard, Sr., and brothers, Brian Dose and A.J. Hannafan.Visitation will be at the Runge Mortuary on Sunday, July 6, 2008 from 3:00-8:00 PM with a Funeral Mass to be conducted at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Long Grove on Monday, July 7, 2008, at 10:30 AM. Memorials may go to the Monticello Education Foundation or the North Scott Education Foundation.Death date: July 1, 2008
