CLINTON — Gene D. Enwright, 79, of Clinton, IA, died Friday, June 27, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center, North Campus, in Clinton. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2008, at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the service hour. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Gene D. Enwright was born in 1929 in Clinton, IA, the son of Eddie and Henrietta (Wilke) Enwright. He was a 1947 graduate of Elvira High School. He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War. He married Thelma Mather in 1958 in Clinton. He was employed by E.I. Dupont for 40 years as an electrician, retiring in 1986. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Clinton, The Parkinson’s Support Group and was a 30- year member of the Avion Travelcade Club. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Kirk (Amy) Enwright of Des Moines, IA, and Kent (Sue) Enwright of Arvada, CO; 2 sisters, Shirley (Elwyn) Nice of Morrison, IL, and Ione (Joe) Beck of Benton, KY; one sister-in-law, Marion Enwright of Clinton; 2 brothers, Don (Marilyn) Enwright of Clinton, IA, and Dean (Bev) Enwright of Columbia City, OR; 2 granddaughters, Emily and Katie Enwright of Arvada, CO; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, L.D. Enwright. Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church or the Clinton Parkinson’s Support Group.
