BOONE — Marie (Graham) Moyer passed away on June 14, 2008, after a courageous battle with cancer. Her energetic spirit will live on through the many lives she touched. By her family and many friends, she will always be remembered for her smiling, kind eyes.Marie (Skeek) graduated from Dakota City High School in Dakota City, NE. She received her teaching degree from Wayne State Teacher’s College. She also received a B.A. degree from Marycrest University in Davenport, IA.In 1950, she married Gerald Moyer. She taught fourth grade for 13 years in Clinton, IA. She loved teaching and her passion for learning is remembered by many of her former students. In 1978, she and her husband bought and managed a bowling alley in Manilla, IA, and in Oakland, IA. In 1991, the couple moved to Lincoln, NE. Marie worked for OUR homes and Haven Manor as an activity director. She is preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Moyer, her parents, Hazel and Stanley Graham, and two brothers, Lawrence and Theodore Graham. She is survived by her daughter, Jerrine McCaffrey of Boone, IA; a son, Rod and wife, Nancy, Moyer of Topeka, KS; a grandson, Dustin Moyer; and a granddaughter, Kayla Christian and her husband, Andrew, also of Topeka; a sister, Frances and her husband, Robert, Bray of Sioux City, IA; a brother, Robert and wife, Marilyn, Graham of Fontenac, KS; a brother, Dean Johnson of Moville, IA; a sister-in-law, Mary Graham of Lincoln, NE; and other loving, surviving nieces and nephews. Marie was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Lincoln, the Altar Society and Bethany Club. Marie will always be remembered by her love of life, her true concern for people, for animals and for all living things. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting. She was an avid walker, gardener and writer. A funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2008, at St. John’s Catholic Church, 7601 Vine, Lincoln. Father Joseph Bernardo will celebrate. A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Butherus, Maser and Love Funeral Home, 4040 A. St., Lincoln 68510. Graveside services will be 3 p.m. on Wednesday at St. Michael’s Cemetery, South Sioux City, NE. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or the Humane Society.Death date: June 14, 2008
