IKEN, SC — Mrs. Shirley Ann Hartman Day, formerly of Clinton, IA, died Monday, June 9, 2008 in Aiken, SC. The family will receive friends at Pape Funeral Home from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Monday, June 16 and interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery in Clinton, Iowa.Shirley was born Dec. 24, 1935 in Clinton, Iowa, daughter of the late Vern Harman and Henriette Capion Hartman. She graduated from Lyons High School in Clinton in 1954. On Oct. 29, 1954, she married Robert E. Day of Clinton. They lived in the Clinton area until 1989 and then in Muscatine, Iowa, before settling in Aiken in 1997. Along with her husband, she is survived by their son, Robert Day, Jr., and daughter-in-law Cynthia Day of Lexington, KY, and her sister Bonnie Hartman of Clinton, Iowa. She was employed as a clerk at City Hall in Camanche, Iowa for several years and subsequently, several more as an administrative assistant at Hon Industries in Muscatine. She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Clinton, later of Trinity Episcopal in Muscatine and most recently of St. Thaddeus Episcopal Church of Aiken. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to a charity of one’s choice.Death date: June 9, 2008
