Margaret DeHaven 09/09/1998 DELMAR, Iowa -- Services for Margaret DeHaven, of Delmar, will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Delmar. The Rev. Ed Botkin will officiate. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Delmar, with military services. Visitation is 3-8 p.m. today at Haylock-O'Hara & Lahey Funeral Home, Maquoketa, with a Scripture service at 7 p.m. Mrs. DeHaven died Monday, Sept. 7, 1998, at Finley Hospital, Dubuque, after a brief illness. She was employed as a registered nurse at Mercy Hospital, Davenport, in the emergency room, in the operating room and as an evening supervisor. She also worked for Dr. Ralph Lagoni, M.D., in Eldridge, for many years. Mary Margaret Hanrahan was born Dec. 6, 1920, in Delmar, to Linus and Nell Kelly-Hanrahan. She attended St. Patrick's Grade School in Delmar and graduated in 1939 from Delmar High School. She attended nursing training at Mercy Hospital, Davenport, graduating in 1944. She then entered the U.S. Navy Nurses Corps. She served in World War II as a registered nurse. She married Glenn DeHaven on Nov. 11, 1948, in Clinton, Iowa. He died Jan. 21, 1983. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Delmar, and the American Legion, DeWitt. She enjoyed reading, knitting, sewing, being with her friends and taking care of her family. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Dean and Mary DeHaven, Delmar; granddaughters, Donna (Mrs. Rick) Marchiori, Loves Park, Ill., and Julie DeHaven, Delmar; great-granddaughters, Kylie and Alyssa Marchiori, Loves Park; a sister, Evelyn Benedict, Clinton; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Hanrahan and Catherine Hanrahan, both of Delmar; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She also was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; and a niece, Regina Hanrahan, on Aug. 12, 1998.
