Lester Anderson 08/22/1998 GRAND MOUND, Iowa -- Services for Lester W. Anderson, of Grand Mound, will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Grand Mound. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Grand Mound. Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Monday at Schultz Funeral Home, Grand Mound, where Masonic services will be held at 8 p.m. Mr. Anderson died Thursday, Aug. 20, 1998, at his home. Lester had worked for the Iowa State Highway Commission in DeWitt until retirement in 1976. He also worked at Bill's Conoco, Grand Mound, and Iowa Parcel Service. He was born Dec. 15, 1912, in Wapello, to William and Clarissa (Pike) Anderson. He married Mary Chandler on Sept. 6, 1939, in DeWitt. They farmed until 1959. She died Aug. 7, 1994. Lester was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Grand Mound. He also was a member of DeWitt Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed his family, playing card in the afternoon with his friends and working outdoors in the garden. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Gary Alden, Bettendorf; a son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Monica Anderson, Grand Mound; grandchildren, Amie and Michael Hass, Coggon, and Alan and Erika Anderson, DeWitt; and a great-grandson, Lane Anderson. He also was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, two brothers and a son-in-law, Bob Miller.
