WOODSTOCK, Ill. — Torie Joy Sampson, 42, of Woodstock, Illinois, died Wednesday, June 4, 2008, surrounded by her family at home. She was born March 31, 1966, in Clinton, Iowa, to Terry and Peggy Chase. Torie grew up and graduated from Fulton High School, Fulton, Illinois, in 1984 where she was an award winning track athlete. She went on to graduate from Western Illinois University with a BS in elementary education in 1989. Torie achieved her master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from Concordia University in 2002. Torie began her teaching career in August 1990 at Fulton Elementary School, Fulton, Illinois. In 1998, she relocated to Cary, Illinois, and continued to teach at Deer Path Elementary School where she taught until December 2007. She was a devoted and dedicated wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend and teacher and is survived by her husband, Todd Sampson; her 3 sons, Logan and Brody Meade and Jacob Sampson; her parents, Terry and Peggy Chase; her brother, Troy (Jody) Chase; her in-laws, George and Judy Sampson; a brother-in-law, Scott (Jennifer) Sampson; 7 nieces and nephews, many aunts, uncles, and cousins and countless friends and students. Torie will be missed for her positive outlook, her endless energy, her ability to forgive and her enormous love of teaching. Torie leaves a legacy of inspiration and positive influence with her children and students of the past 19 years that education can truly make a difference in life. Visitation was held on Sunday from 3-8 p.m. at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave. (Rte.176), Crystal Lake, and will be Tuesday from 3-8 p.m. at the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, 1500 10th Avenue, Fulton, IL, where services will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be at the Fulton Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial fund accounts have been established at the 5/3 Banks for Torie’s three surviving children. For more information on how to contribute go to www.tt4tsampson.com.
