Pauline MEYERS HANSEN, a beautician for 60 years in Clinton, died Thursday at Mercy Hospital.
Mrs. HANSEN of Clinton was 88.
She opened her first shop in 1925 in Clinton and was the first licensed beauty operator in Clinton in 1927, she organized the Clinton Academy of Beauty and Hair Design. She owned and operated Milady Beauty Shop Inc, Clinton, until 1982, and continued to work as a beautician until 1985.
Pauline MEYERS married Ralph HANSEN in 1958 in Clinton. He died in 1978.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at Clinton Chapel of Snell-Zornig Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Clinton Humane Society and the church.
She was a member of the church and the humane society.
She was the first state president from Clinton of Iowa National Hairdressers and Cosmetologists Association, where she had been state secretary and historian, had edited the state bulletin and was a trustee on the executive board of directors. She helped organize a Dubuque association and was a member of National Hair Fashion Committee. In 1983, she was honored for 60 years as a beautician and received the Tulis Memorial Award.
She was active in many civic organizations in the city of Clinton.
Survivors include a step-daughter, Sherry HALLING, Muscatine; a brother, Charles MEYERS, Clinton; and nieces and nephews.
