MAQUOKETA — Bernie F. Mishler, age 90, of Maquoketa, Iowa, died on Friday morning, May 23, 2008, at the Jackson County Regional Health Center in Maquoketa. A celebration of his life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2008, from the Carson and Son Funeral and Cremation Services in Maquoketa. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 27, 2008, from the Carson and Son Funeral and Cremation Services in Maquoketa, Iowa. Burial will be in the Pence Cemetery, rural Baldwin, where full military rites will be accorded. Bernie F. Mishler was born on September 1, 1917, in Albion, Iowa, to Bernie E. Mishler and Mary A. (Everist) Mishler. He attended Marshalltown, Iowa, High School, and was a distinguished World War II veteran of the Army. He married Eleanor E. Graves on May 29, 1941, in Marshalltown, Iowa. Bernie had worked for Bowman Cattle Company from 1947 to 1965, and then owned and operated Bernie Mishler Stockyard, retiring in 1981. Bernie is survived by his wife, Eleanor Mishler, of Maquoketa, IA; a daughter, Linda (Bob) Bailey of Maquoketa, IA; 2 grandchildren, Brian (and fiancee, Lisa O’Neill) Manderscheid of Maquoketa, IA, and Paula (Chris) Brewer of Montgomery, IL; a great-granddaughter, Lainey Brewer; and 2 brothers, Jesse Mishler of WA, and Embert (Betty) Mishler of Scotts Bluff, NE.
