DEWITT — Ronald “Chubbers” Crosthwaite, 65, DeWitt, Iowa, died Wednesday morning, May 7, 2008, at Genesis Medical Center, DeWitt. Ronald George Crosthwaite was born February 5, 1943, in Clinton, Iowa, to George and Dorothy Irene (Dosland) Crosthwaite. He attended Grand Mound schools and was the last class to graduate from Grand Mound High School in 1961. Chubbers worked for Oscar Meyer in Davenport. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, DeWitt. Ron was an avid Green Bay Packer and St. Louis Cardinal fan. Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Nick and Margaret Crosthwaite, Fulton, Illinois; his daughter and son-in-law, Michele and Robert Ringen, Preston, Iowa; his mother, Mrs. Dorothy Crosthwaite, DeWitt; grandchildren, Anthony Swanson, Kyle, Nichole and Kody Crosthwaite; brothers and a sister-in-law, Richard and Sandy Crosthwaite, Grand Mound, and Roger Crosthwaite, DeWitt; a sister, Ardith Barr, DeWitt; numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding Ron in death were his father; a grandson, Zachary Swanson; a nephew, David Barr; and a brother-in-law, Dennis Barr. The family will receive friends at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2008. A Service of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 10, 2008, in Grace Lutheran Church, DeWitt, with the Rev. Timothy Carr officiating.
