GRAND MOUND — Memorial services to celebrate the life of John H. Sullivan, age 48, of Grand Mound, IA, formerly of Davenport, will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary Chapel in Davenport. The family will greet friends from 4:00 p.m. until the service time at the mortuary. Mr. Sullivan died on Sunday, May 4, 2008, in Grand Mound from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.John Harold Sullivan was born on August 14, 1959, to Eugene and Lillian (Michalski) Sullivan in Davenport, IA. He married Barbara Jo Wingerter on October 31, 1994, in Davenport. He was a graduate of Davenport West High School and went on to serve his apprenticeship as a bricklayer. He was employed for many years by Bill Martin Construction and most recently by P.R. Masonry.His memberships included the Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Union Local 6 and the Grand Mound Sportsman’s Club. He loved to hunt, fish, read, tend his garden and most especially spend time with his grandchildren and his animals.Survivors include his wife, Barbara; his parents, Eugene and Lillian Sullivan of Davenport; 2 sons, Jason Sullivan and Matthew Sullivan, both of Houston, TX; 2 stepdaughters, Stephanie (Mrs. Mark) White of Hampton, IL, and Susan (Mrs. Aaron) Osborn of Buffalo, IA; a stepson, Steve Wirtjes of Davenport; 3 sisters, Jackie (Mrs. Robert) Deere of Bettendorf, Sandy (Mrs. George) Hoke of DeWitt, IA, and Jeanne (Mrs. Paul) Ferring of Blue Grass, IA; his twin brother, Jim Sullivan of Long Grove, IA; and 4 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his grandparents and 2 nephews, Charlie and Joshua.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Grand Mound Sportsman’s Club or the Alzheimer’s Association.Death date: May 4, 2008
