STERLING, Ill. — John E. Rohwer Jr., 58, of Sterling, died Tuesday April 29, 2008. He was born on August 11, 1949, in Clinton, IA, the son of John E. and Joan (Arians) Rohwer Sr. JR began his 42-year career in radio at WJVM in Sterling and progressed in radio communications until its sale in 1986 when he moved to WSDR in Sterling and became their morning radio personality. Surviving are his two sons, Jim Rohwer of Sterling and Matt Rohwer of Ft. Myers, FL; his parents, John and Joan Rohwer Sr of Sterling; his sister, Jo Ann (Richard) Smith of Bloomington, IL; and two nephews, Brian Smith and Michael Smith. He was preceded in death by his grandparents. Private family services will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his memory to Whiteside Co. Relay for Life or the F.I.S.H Food Pantry of Sterling would be appreciated. www.mcdonaldfuneralhomes.comDeath date: April 29, 2008
