DEWITT — Lawrence “Larry” M. Luskey, 80, of DeWitt, formerly of Charlotte, passed away Saturday, May 3, 2008, at his home. Larry was born August 15th, 1927, in Charlotte, son of the late Henry and Laura (Stuckel) Luskey. He married LaVera “Bunny” Ebeling on September 23rd, 1950, at St. Irenaus Catholic Church in Clinton. She survives. He had worked at Clinton Engines for 12 years, later retiring from Caterpillar after 25 years. He had farmed until 1969, when they moved to town. After retiring he drove shuttle for the Mississippi Belle II for two years and worked for four summers at Martin Ag in Preston. He was proud to have served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He enjoyed sitting on his swing and visiting with the neighbors as well as going to the riverboats. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. Besides his loving wife Bunny; survivors include, his children, Mike (Archene) Luskey, Camanche, Pat Luskey, Grapeview, WA, Pam Perritt, Davenport, Iowa, Don (Sherry) Luskey, Charlotte, Susie (Tim) McAleer, DeWitt; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Bruce Ebeling, MN, one sister-in-law, Alice Johnson, AZ. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, one sister and an infant daughter. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in DeWitt. The Rev. Fr. H. Robert Harness will preside. Cremation rights will be accorded. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. and again on Wednesday from 10-10:45 at The Lemke Funeral Home of DeWitt, 226 11th Street.
