ROCK ISLAND, Ill. — Clara P. VandeVoorde, 100, of Rock Island and formerly of Camanche, Iowa, died February 27, 2008, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.Services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 3, 2008, at Rafferty Funeral Home, 2111 First Street A, Moline. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. An additional visitation will be 12 noon to 12:30 p.m. Monday, March 3, 2008, at First Baptist Church, Camanche, Iowa. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery, Camanche, Iowa. Memorials can be made to Living Hope Community Church, Davenport. Clara was born January 3, 1908, in Cheyenne, WY, the daughter of Holly and Ethel Rife Speece. She married Howard C. Peveler; he preceded her in death. She later married Phil VandeVoorde, he preceded her in death.Clara was a former member of Moline Gospel Temple and Bethel Assembly of God, Rock Island. She attended Living Hope Community Church, Davenport. She loved playing cards and ceramics. Clara was a devoted and loving wife, mother and friend, she enjoyed her years baking, homemaking and fishing with whomever she could get to take her. Survivors include her daughters and son-in-law; Evelyn Bower of Clinton, IA, and Tia and Mike McNulty of Coal Valley; son, Jack Peveler of Mineral, IL; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Vera Fuller of Muscatine. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 sisters and 2 brothers.Clara’s family would like to thank Dr. Paul Wang and Staff and Trinity West 4th Floor South Nurses and Staff.
