CLINTON — Rita R. Newsom, age 64, of Clinton, died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008, in Clinton. Funeral services will be held Thursday 11:00 a.m. at the Pape Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Wednesday 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Casket bearers will be David Dohrn, Brent Robbins, Jason Newsom, George Kramer III, Kenny King and Ted Shalack. Rita was born on Aug. 2, 1943, in Carroll County, IL, the daughter of Irvin and Ruth (Tracy) Jansen. She married John Newsom on Aug. 6, 1965, in Clinton. Rita worked at Collis Tool Corp. as a machinist for over 35 years, retiring in 2007. She was a member of the International Association of Machinist and Aerospace Workers Union Local 1623. She enjoyed cooking, karaoke, and spending time with her family. Rita is survived by her three sons, James Newsom of Clinton, Joseph (Brandy) Newsom of Goose Lake, John (Kayla) Newsom of Clinton; her daughter, Jennifer Newsom of Clinton; seven grandchildren, Laura, Dawson, Wyatt, Kolby, Pacey, Cheyanna and Tytan; a brother, Roger (Marty) Jansen of Corpus Christi, TX; and a sister, Anita (Charlie) Loiacano of Martinez, GA. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Ernie and Russell Jansen, and a granddaughter, Justice Newsom. Death date: Feb. 23, 2008
