DEWITT — Mr. Dwayne Howson, 86, DeWitt, Iowa, formerly of Low Moor, Iowa, died Sunday evening, February 24, 2008, at Westwing Place, DeWitt. Dwayne Eugene Howson was born April 3, 1921, in Clinton, Iowa, to Vern William and Fannie Mae (Clement) Howson. Dwayne farmed all of his life. He married the former Helen Joan Nielsen, August 25, 1946, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Clinton. Following retirement, Dwayne worked for Eastern Iowa Grain as a truck driver. He was a member of the United Methodist Church at Low Moor. He enjoyed bowling and cutting the grass. Surviving are his loving wife of 61 years, Helen; three children, Connie Schnoor and her husband, Ken, Long Grove, Iowa, Paul Howson and his wife, Ida, Camanche, Iowa, and Dennis Howson, Cheyenne, Wyoming; nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren; sisters, Helen Mae Hofer and Jean Doescher, DeWitt, and Janice Wiebenga, Clinton. Preceding Dwayne in death were his parents, his stepmother, Willa Howson, a brother, William. The family will receive friends at Schultz Funeral, DeWitt, from 9:00 until 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, February 27, 2008. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Christine Minor-Heilig officiating. Burial will follow at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Memorials may be designated to Visiting Nurses Hospice and Low Moor Methodist Church. Pallbearers will be Richard Schnoor, Michael Schnoor, Adam Schnoor, Kristopher Howson, Stephan Alm, Jeffrey Alm, Paul Engaldo, Nathan Nissen and Jonathan Howson.
