Truman C. Greve Orange City, FL Death date: February 24, 2008 Truman C. Greve, 79 Cremation rites have been accorded. There will be no visitation. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Truman C. Greve was born October 25, 1928, in Clinton, IA, to Virtus and Clydia (Wiley) Greve. He grew up in the Low Moor area and graduated from Elvira High School in 1946. Attended the University of Iowa for a year. He married Donna Schwarz on October 25th, 1948. They lived in Clinton and had two children, Cindy and Jeffrey. Truman was general manager of Truman’s Gulf Service and Circle G Restaurant from 1951 until 1964. In 1964, he began a career in the culvert business for Clinton Culvert Company as their sales manager. In 1977, Truman and Donna opened the business Illowa Culvert Company near Low Moor, Iowa. Donna died December of 1982. Truman retired in 1993 and his son Jeff Greve took over the business. On May 15, 1987, he married Marlene Haferbier Suehl. They lived in Clinton, then on a farm near Green Island, IA, and in Deland, Florida, where they spent their winters. During his life, Truman was a loyal Hawkeye fan. He enjoyed going to home football and basketball games and followed the team all over the country. Tailgating on Saturday mornings for home games at Kinnick Stadium was a must. He also loved going to Canada fishing with friends, family and business associates. He was an avid golfer. A member of Valley Oaks Country Club and Gyros Club. He loved to cook for family and friends. Was especially known for his Smoked Ribs. He enjoyed socializing, traveling and meeting people. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandsons’ Karl and Paul Greve and going to the Culvert Company after he retired. Truman is survived by his wife, Marlene; his daughter, Cindy (Terry) Smiley of Woodstock, Ill.; his son, Jeffrey A. (Debbie) Greve of Clinton; three grandsons, Karl Greve of Low Moor, Paul Greve of Clinton, Brian Smiley of Woodstock, Ill.; one granddaughter, Kari (Brian) Winkelman of Oconomowoc, WI; two stepdaughters, Christine (Tim) Mewhirter of Clinton, Karen (Bill) Rowan of Clinton; and four stepgrandsons, Darren (Christine) Smiley of Bettendorf, Mark Rowan, Christian Rowan and Benjamin Rowan, all of Clinton; and three stepgreat-grandchildren of Bettendorf; one brother, Courtland (Delores) Greve of Camanche, IA; three sisters, Arlene Thompson of Clinton, Gloria (Robert) Hill of Hiwasse, AR, and Janet (Bill) Comeau of Yuma, AZ. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Donna; his mother and father; and his sister, Margaret (Dale) Wagner. Death date: Feb. 24, 2008
