COLONA, Ill. — Inez M. McRae, 94, of Colona, Illinois, died on February 19, 2008, at Illini Restorative Care in Silvis, Illinois.Family and friends gathered for a visitation on Thursday, February 21, 2008, from 5 - 8 PM at Family Funeral Services, Colona. A funeral service was held on Friday, February 22, 2008, at 11:30 AM at the funeral home. The place of her final rest is Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline, Illinois.She was born on December 27, 1913, in Douglas, North Dakota, to William H. and Sophia (Hocanson) Edwards (both deceased). On June 12, 1937, in Moline, Illinois, Inez married Melford G. McRae, who died in 1973. Inez was also preceded in death by her son William McRae, (2000), her daughter Vera McRae, (1998), and a long-time friend, Edmund Youngquist.Her survivors include two grandsons, Brian and wife Tricia McRae, Larchmont, New York, and Brent McRae and his dog, Yogi, Rock Island, Illinois; a granddaughter, Bridget and husband, Kevin Kurtz, Clinton, Iowa; and seven great-grandchildren, Erin, Brian, Kristofor, Macky and Austin McRae; and Anna and Brady Kurtz.Inez worked as an occupational therapist at the former East Moline State Hospital. She spent time in volunteer work. Inez was a part of the Colona Fire Department and Auxiliary and the Colona/Green Rock Senior Citizen Center. She traveled extensively in Mexico over twenty years. Inez financially supported families in South and Central America and Europe.
