FULTON, Ill. — Donald E. Houzenga, 82, of Fulton, died Thursday at Harbor Crest Nursing Home, Fulton. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Bethel Christian Reformed, Fulton, with Rev. Len Meinema, Pastor of Bethel Christian Reformed Church, Fulton, officiating. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. Interment will be in Fulton Township Cemetery, Fulton.He was born November 12, 1925, in Clinton, to Jabbes and Minnie (Schaver) Houzenga. He graduated from Fulton High School in 1943. He married Dorothy VanVuren on June 20, 1947, in Fulton.He drove trucks for Jule Medenblik in Garden Plain, Ill., for 13 years. He then was employed with Drives, Inc., as a tool and die maker and foreman, retiring in 1989.He was a charter member of Bethel Christian Reformed Church, Fulton, where he served as a deacon and was involved in the Men’s Bible study. He was a former member of the Fulton Fire Department for 15 years. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; one daughter, Sally Houzenga, Fulton; two sons, Keith (Vicki) Houzenga, Fulton, and Dale (Toni) Houzenga, DeSoto, Mo .; three grandchildren; one step-grandson; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Brenda Kay Houzenga, and one sister, Doris Wehrmeyer.#Memorials may be made to Fulton Fire Department, Bethel Christian Reformed Church and Mercy Hospice.
