CAMANCHE — James E. Pruett, 72, of Camanche, passed away Tuesday, February 12, 2008, at his home surrounded by his family following a courageous battle with cancer.Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 15, 2008, at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church with Dr. Donald Batz officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Ed Evans, Paul Schaaf, Gerry Bryan, Ron Bruns, Vinny Carpenter, and Ron Schneller. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Ronald Emerson, James John and Bob Nolan. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory. Jim was born in Silver Lake, Missouri, on August 12, 1935, to Raymond and Mae (King) Pruett. He came to Camanche in 1952 and graduated from Clinton High School in 1954. He married Wanda Brown on June 24, 1956, in Camanche. Jim worked at Clausen Companies in Clinton for 49 1⁄2 years. He also worked with his son, Jim, in his heating business. Jim enjoyed woodworking, camping in Door County, Wisconsin; fishing and attending the sports and music activities of Austin and Jeff. Jim was a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Camanche serving on many committees and sang in the choir. He also was formerly on the board of trustees for Living Faith Parish. Jim is survived by his loving wife, Wanda of Camanche; one daughter, Debra Jepsen and her husband, Dennis, of Camanche; two sons, Jim Pruett of Fulton, Illinois, and Thomas Pruett and wife, Michelle, of Camanche; one grandson, Austin James Pruett; six stepgrandchildren, Jeffrey Willging, Josh (Lara), Jessie, and Jodie Jepsen, Daphny Ruchotzke and Gloria Hart; seven stepgreat-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Norman of Tucson, Arizona, and Goldie Thompson of Clinton; two brothers, William Pruett of Carlton, Michigan, and Leo Pruett of Circleville, Ohio; and special friends, Ed, Paul and Ron. Jim is preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
