The Clinton Herald Friday September 18, 1981 p. 12 Frank "Dude" Matzen, 69, of 711 Locust Place, died Thursday in Jane Lamb Hospital. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Zion Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Stanley Peterson officiating. Burial will be in Clinton Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today in Snell-Zornig Funeral Home, Clinton. Pallbearers will be Jack Soesbe, Harold Whiting, Stewart Krause, Bill Ernst, Russell Luckritz and Jim Matzen. Mr. Matzen was born Sept. 29, 1911, in Clinton, to Frank and Clara Hansen Matzen. He married Lois Cole in 1934. She died in 1952. He married Dorothy Geronzin July 10, 1954, in Yorktown, Ill. He lived all his life in Clinton, and was a member of Turner Society, and a former member of Iowa National Guard, Batterey A., for 20 years. He worked as a supervisor at the former Climax Co, and at Clinton Corn Processing Co., for about 20 years as a plant security guard. He retired in 1976. Survivors include his wife; six daughters, Mrs. Vernon (Judy) Wilke and Mrs. William (Diane) Soesbe, both of Clinton, Mrs. Richard (Becky) Donels of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. David (Jane) Zimmerman of DeWitt, Janet Matzen of Addison, Ill., and Mrs. Ken (Cathy) Sterns of Pensacola, Fla.; two sons, Sgt. John Matzen with the U.S. Air Force in Goldsboro, N.C., and Robert (Rob) Matzen of South Amana; 19 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Helen Palsgrove of Clinton; and two brothers, Fred and Glenn, both of Clinton.
