The Clinton Herald Monday February 14, 1983 p. 18 The funeral for Herbert J. Greve, 87, Preston, who died Saturday in Mercy Hospital, Clinton, will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Miller Funeral Home, Preston. Rev. Paul Ostrem of St. John's Lutheran Church will officiate and burial will be in Teeds Grove Cemetery, where a flag presentation by the Preston American Legion will be held. Visitation is after 3 p.m. today in the funeral home. Pallbearers, all nephews, will be Duane Hagge, Gilbert Bott, Donald Galusha, Kevin Gruhn, Duane, Ben and Lester Greve. Mr. Greve was born Feb. 28, 1895 in Teeds Grove, Iowa, the son of Johannes and Catherine Eggers Greve. He married Hazel Meyer in 1923 and she died in 1936. In 1938 he married Virginia Fitzgerald who died in 1966. On Aug. 22, 1977, he was married to Phyllis Reddow. He farmed in the Teeds Grove and Sabula areas, retiring to Preston in 1959. He was a member of the Lutheran faith, a World War I Army veteran and belonged to the Preston American Legion. Survivors include his wife, a daughter, Mrs. George (Phyllis) VanderSchaff of Peoria; two sons, Herbert of Savanna and Gerald of Manchester; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Leona Petersen and Mrs. Clara Hagge, both of Clinton, and Mrs. Dilman (Amanda) Wilson of Bryant and a brother, John Greve of Clinton. Prededing him in death were four brothers.
