The Clinton Herald Tuesday November 25, 1947 p. 10 Death, following a sudden heart attack yesterday, came to Herbert E. Reimers, 48, of 718 Eleventh avenue, South, in Jane Lamb hospital last evening. Mr. Reimers was bailiff in Clinton municipal court. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. tomorrow in St. John's Episcopal church. The Rev. Robert T. Dickerson, pastor of St. Johns Episcopal church, will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery. The body will remain in the Snell funeral home until the services tomorrow. Mr. Reimers suffered what was at first believed to be a heart spell in the clerk's office prior to the session of municipal court yesterday and was taken to Jane Lamb hospital, where he died. The auxiliary of the V.F.W. will meet in the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. today to pay respects and the V.F.W. club will remain closed from 2 until 4 p.m. tomorrow. Born Dec. 21, 1898, in Milwaukee, Wis., Mr. Reimers was the son of Otto J. and Alvena Claussen Reimers. Besides his position with the city, he was services officer for the V.F.W. quartermaster for District 2 of that organization and a member of the All-American Drum and Bugle corps. He was also a member of the American Legion, the Ex-Servicemen's association and an honorary member of the Amvets. During and after World War I, he served a total of four years in the Navy. He was secretary of the United Service Organizations of Clinton. A member of St. John's Episcopal church, he was also a member of the Clinton Turner society, the United Commercial Travelers, and the Izaak Walton league. Mr. Reimers was married Dec. 27, 1919, in Fulton, Ill., to Adelyne Kolk, and after spending some years in Colorado, they returned to Clinton 11 years ago. Surviving are his wife, one son, Herbert J., at home; one daughter, Marion Elizabeth, Clinton; his father, of Clinton; one sister, Mrs. M.F. Anderson, and one brother, R.J. Reimers, both of Clinton, and several nieces and nephews. His mother, two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
