The Clinton Herald Monday December 9, 1912 p. 6 Henry Horst, a resident of Lyons since 1872, passed away at noon Monday at his residence here. His death was the result of a complication of diseases. He became ill on Saturday morning and failed rapidly. No funeral arrangements have been announced. The deceased was born in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, on October 17, 1855, and removed with his parents to Deep Creek township, Clinton county, in 1870. His parents engaged in farming for two years and Mr. Horst then removed to Lyons, where he was married in 1878 to Miss Amelia Seivers. For many years he was employed in the saw mills here and later was identified with the Mulligan & Horst saloon. In recent years he had been employed in the Clinton Electro Plating works. He was a member of the German Shooting society. Left to mourn his death are his widow, and six children, Edward, Ernest, Albert, Lorena, Harry and Henrietta. In addition, he leaves two brothers, August of West Lyons, and John of Wartenburg, Ark., and a sister, Mrs. William Seton of Clinton. Five grandchildren also are left.
