The Clinton Advertiser Saturday February 14, 1920 p. 2 After a severe illness extending over a period of several weeks, Ernestine Nock Coan, wife of Claudius Collins Coan, died at her home 345 Seventh avenue, Friday evening, February 13th, about 10 o'clock. Deceased was the daughter of the late Thomas Gill Nick and Caroline Prouty Nock of Rome, N.Y. On October 12, 1887, she was united in marriage to C.C. Coan of this city, at Rome, N.Y., and they returned here, where they have since resided. Mrs. Coan was an ardent member of the Presbyterian church and was prominent in the workings of the Clinton County Chapter of the American Red Cross. She was also an active officer of the associate Benevolent society, having been elected president of that society in 1898 and held that office since. Surviving her are her husband, two nieces, Mrs. J.P. Dilley of LaSalle, Ill., and Miss Ruth Nock of Rome, N.Y.; also a nephew, Webster Nock of Bacon, Ore. Services will be held at the home on Seventh avenue Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock, and Mr. Coan and Mrs. J.P. Dilley will accompany the remains to Rome, N.Y., Monday morning, where the final services will be conducted.
The Clinton Advertiser Monday February 16, 1920 p. 2 The remains of the late Mrs. Claudius Collins Coan left this morning, accompanied by C.C. Coan and Mrs. J.D. Dilley for Rome, New York, where funeral services will be held. Brief services were held at the Coan home, 345 Seventh avenue, at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon.
