The Clinton Herald Tuesday November 6, 1923 p. 6 Word was received this noon of the death of Mrs. Claudine Coan Smith, who passed away this morning at her apartments in the Lake View hotel, Los Angeles, Calif., from heart failure. Mrs. Smith was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Folwell Coan, and the widow of the late Dr. A.H. Smith, the family residence having been for years at the corner Sixth avenue and Fourth street. Of her immediate family there are left a sister, Mrs. Walter I. Hayes, of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. H.J. Rendall and Mrs. Frank L. Smith of Morrison, Ill., and two nephews, Claude Ewing of Chicago and Folwell W. Coan of Minneapolis. A sister, Mrs. E.G. Ewing and two brothers, C.C. Coan and William F. Coan Jr., preceded her in death.
