The Clinton Herald Saturday August 2, 1913 p. 10 Funeral services for the late Mrs. William Stone, nee Alice Tallman, were held at the Methodist Episcopal church at Camanche at 10:30 o'clock Saturday morning. Rev. J.K. Shiffer of DeWitt, former pastor of the church, officiated at the services and interment took place in Rose Hill cemetery. Mrs. Stone became afflicted with inflammatory rheumatism in March, which finally caused her death. She passed away at 1 o'clock Thursday morning. Mrs. Stone was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Tallman and was born in Camanche February 22, 1859. She attended the Camanche schools and entered the Clinton high school, from which she graduated and then went to the University of Illinois, from which school she graduated in architecture. On February 1, 1884, she married William Stone of Camanche and until three years ago, they lived in Clinton and Scott counties. Three years ago Mr. and Mrs. Stone moved to Urbana, Ill., to give their son, O.R. Stone, and education in the University of Illinois. Besides the many friends in Clinton and vicinity, Mrs. Stone leaves to mourn her death, her husband, W.M. Stone, and son, O.R. Stone, and mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Tallman of Chamache, and seven brothers, H.F. Tallman of Monument, Kans., B.E. Tallman of Camanche, W.L. Tallman of Russell Springs, Kans., R.C. Tallman of Camanche, B.B. Tallman and H.P. Tallman of Rock Island and Ray E. Tallman of Camanche.
