The Clinton Herald Saturday April 17, 1965 p. 5 August C. Behrens, 80, of 3018 Pershing Blvd., died at 4:25 a.m. today in his home. Requiem high mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Boniface Church. Burial will be in St. Boniface cemetery. Friends may call at the Shadduck funeral home after 1 p.m. Tursday. The St. Boniface parish rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Mr. Behrens was born Oct. 3, 1884 in Eckenforde, Germany, the son of Carl and Dorothea Hass Behrens. He came to this country with his parents in 1888, moving to the Teeds Grove area. He attended Clinton County schools. On April 8, 1913, he was married in Clinton to Mary Helen Wessels. She proceded him in death in 1943. He then married Anna Newkirk on Feb. 5, 1946 in Clinton. A member of St. Boniface, he was a carpenter and cabinet maker by trade, having built several grandfather clocks.
