The Clinton Weekly Age Vol. 23 No. 16 Tuesday August 5, 1890 The community was started Sunday morning to hear of the death of Mr. Patrick McGovern, residing at No. 427, Fifteenth avenue. Mr. McGovern had been hurt about two weeks ago by falling from a runway at Young's lower mill and striking his head on a railroad track, but had showed signs of improvement and it was hoped that he was on the road to recovery. About half past nine Sunday morning his injuries terminated in death. Mr. McGovern had been in the employ of W.J. Young & Co., for a great many years and was a valued man whose place it will be difficult to fill. He leaves a family of six children. No arrangements have as yet been made for the funeral, but it will probably occur this morning at 9 o'clock with services at St. Mary's church.
The Clinton Weekly Age Vol. 23 No. 18 Friday August 7, 1890 The funeral of the late Patrick McGovern took place Tuesday morning from St. Mary's Church, and a long line of carriages followed the remains to the grave. The deceased had been a member of the Clinton fire department for over 15 years and the flag on the central fire station was at half-mast out of respect to his memory. The fourth ward hose house was also decorated with black.
