CLINTON — Dolores J. Sharples, 77, of Clinton, Iowa, died Friday January 18, 2008, at her home in Clinton. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 24, 2008, at Prince of Peace Parish Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, January 23, 2008, at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Dolores was born July 10, 1930, in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Bernard and Verna (King) Ekland. She was a 1948 Clinton High School graduate. She also attended the University of Iowa and Clinton Community College. She had been employed as a bookkeeper for Northrup Aircraft in California, Waukesha Engines and Mercantile Bank. She was a member of Prince of Peace Parish, A.B.W.A, National Association of Business Women and she was voted Woman of the Year by the A.B.W.A. Survivors include her daughter, Susan (Mike) Lyons of Tonapah, NV; son, James Sharples of Moorpark, CA; 3 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; her sister-in-law, Bette Ekland of Cedar Rapids; and nieces and nephews.Death date: Jan. 18, 2008
