The Clinton Herald Monday January 28, 1907 p. 8 The death of John S. Vosburg, who was a pioneer settler of Clinton county, occurred at 11:15 o'clock Sunday night at Agatha hospital, following a week's illness of paralysis. The remains of the aged Clinton county man have been removed to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles P. Chase, at 1005 5th avenue. The funeral will be held Wednesday, with services at 10 o'clock in the morning at the Chase residence, in charge of Rev. Allen Judd, rector of St. John's Episcopal church. Interment will be made n the cemetery at Elvira, the funeral cortege proceding thither after the funeral at the Clinton home of the daughter of the deceased, Mrs. Chase. John S. Vosburg was born in New York state just 76 years ago, and when a youth came west, settling on a farm near Elvira more than half a century ago. He lived on the old homestead until about four years ago, when he came to Clinton to make his home with his daughter and son-in-law. Surviving the deceased are his wife, and the one daughter. Mr. Vosburg fought for his country in the Civil war, serving as a member of the First Iowa cavalry.
