CLINTON — Marian T. Shaff, 93, of Bickford Cottage, Clinton, died Tuesday, January 8, 2008, at Skilled Care of Mercy Medical Center, South Campus. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 12, 2008, at the Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Shaffton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to the service time Saturday at the funeral home. Marian was born on January 22, 1914, the daughter of Peter John and Anna (Ewoldt) Thede. Marian grew up in Dixon, Iowa, and graduated from Davenport High School in 1931. She then graduated from Grinnell College in 1936 with a degree in mathematics education and taught school for several years at Bennett and Olin, Iowa. On June 24, 1939, she married Roger Shaff and they lived on the family farm until Roger’s death in 2004. Marian was active in several organizations, among them were The American Cancer Society, Republican Women, PEO and the Folletts Study Club. In 1976, Marian was selected as one of the Wallaces Farmer Master Homemakers. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Clinton. Marian is survived by a son, John (Evelyn) Shaff of Camanche; a daughter, Ann (Jim) Frein of Vail, Colorado; six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother and one great-grandchild. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church or Clinton Community College.
