DEWITT — Frances M. (Mrs. Donald) Langbehn, 81, DeWitt, Iowa, formerly of Grand Mound, Iowa, died Thursday morning, January 10, 2008, at Westwing Place, DeWitt. Mrs. Langbehn was born Frances Marie Lane, November 19, 1926, at rural Delmar, Iowa, the daughter of Francis Louis and Iva Marie (Morse) Lane. Frances graduated from Delmar High School in 1944. She worked for Western Union in Chicago during World War II. She then worked at Iowa Mutual in DeWitt until she stayed at home to raise her family. Frances married Donald Otto Langbehn, September 15, 1950, at First Congregational Church, DeWitt. The couple farmed south of Grand Mound for many years. Don preceded Frances in death July 25, 2007.She was a member of the Grand Mound American Legion Auxiliary for more than 50 years and a former member of Beta Sigma Phi. Frances was a hard worker and an excellent housekeeper and seamstress. She and Don enjoyed traveling and wintered in Texas for several years. They were longtime members of a card club and enjoyed time spent with their family and friends. Surviving are children, Jane McGonegle and her husband, Paul, Grand Mound; Melinda Langbehn, DeWitt, Patricia Gerrond and her husband, Grant, Lisle, Illinois; grandchildren, Heather Ohnemus and her husband, Matt, Chicago, Illinois, and Donald McGonegle, Grand Mound; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Melva Joyce and Cal Henry, DeKalb, Illinois, and Dale and Jean Langbehn, Schofield, Wisconsin. In addition to her husband, Don, Frances was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Marjorie Mohr and Dorothy Hafner.Family and friends may visit Schultz Funeral Home, Grand Mound, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday, January 11, 2008. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 12, 2008, in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Dennis Arndt presiding. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Grand Mound.
